Call them what you want, but the Kardashian-Jenner clan knows a thing or two about social media. While many write it off as stupid, the show managed to last 20 seasons while suffering a drastic decline in viewership. I would argue that their long viewer-less run is all thanks to the viral memes, clips, and gifs the show inspired.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Ryan Faughnder explains, the show peaked in ratings back in 2010, during only its 4th season, with 4.8 million total viewers. A decade later, the show’s 19th season brought in about 810,000 total viewers. However, the worst-performing episode in the show’s history was in their final season with around 540,000 views.
Regardless, the number of fans tuning in live, “Keeping Up with The Kardashian’s” prevailed. While they may not go down in history as the most successful reality show, they should get credit for their successful run on social media.
